A Little About Me
About the artist:
I was born in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee, and moved to Florence, South Carolina as a pre-teen. My mother was an art teacher, so I was lucky to have had access to a lot of mediums and materials to explore while growing up. I attended Clemson University, earning my BFA with a concentration in ceramics. Life then led me to Virginia, and I earned a MS Ed in special education from Old Dominion University.
After teaching special education a few years, I taught art in public schools in all grade levels. I moved around a lot, but eventually found my way back to South Carolina. I lived on a horse and dairy goat farm in Timmonsville, SC, and between my sons and animals, I kept pretty busy.
After divorcing, I found myself without a studio or much space to make anything. My best friend encouraged me to find my creativity again and work with what I have. I have been able to make a studio space in the living and dining room in my apartment, and I use my spare bedroom for storing all my bounty (most artists I know hoard art supplies like I do) and my woodworking equipment. Even though I have to cut, trim, sand, burn, and put a finish on my pieces on my patio, I make do. My neighbors may not like the noise, though.
As soon as I build up enough inventory to have a good amount to peruse, I am going to start exhibiting at local events and fairs. My pieces can also be shipped, so if you see anything you like or would like to commission a piece, please contact me.
